Some Halloween Treats are Tricky

Halloween 2014 Greater Houston OrthodonticsWe have all heard about the damage that sugar and certain “sticky” candies can do to teeth. Well, our Team at Greater Houston Orthodontics wants to remind all of our patients and future patients about the dangers one more time. We know #Halloween is supposed to be a fun time of year for kids of all ages… but it can turn into a “nightmare” of damaged teeth for kids and parents if the wrong types of treats are consumed.

Here at Greater Houston Orthodontics we love #Halloween but we also have a responsibility to increase the awareness regarding the potential damage certain candies can cause if patients are not careful about which treats to eat.

So…go ahead and enjoy your treats. But PLEASE be sure they are #orthodontic and #dental friendly treats. Click here to download a Do’s and Don’ts Treat List offered by the AAO. As a reminder, print it off and post in on your refrigerator for all to see.

Follow the list and save candy you can eat and give away treats that will harm your #braces. A few sweets can be OK occasionally, whether wearing #braces or not, as long as you brush and floss after eating.

We want everyone to enjoy their Halloween…but we also want you to protect the investment you and your family has made in helping us create a beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime.

Do you think we are being unreasonable asking patients to give up treats that damage their braces? Please leave your comments below. Now is the time to vent….
